Donald's primary interest lies in the genre of marine scenes and landscapes with a distinctive "island" flavour. Appreciating the bucolic nature of Prince Edward Island’s scenery, Donald conveys his personal feelings about each subject by capturing the ambiance of time and place.

Donald feels that the island, in a special way, is quite unlike the rest of Atlantic Canada. There is something very unique about PEI – no other part of the Maritimes has the same tranquil beauty as the island, and I love to represent that in my paintings.

Donald’s formal art education was received in colleges in Charlottetown and Ottawa. His work is included in corporate and private collections throughout Canada and the U.S. as well as four other continents. He has won awards for both his artwork and photography, and his work has been featured and sold at charity art auctions for the Parkinson Society and the Kidney Foundation.

Represented exclusively in Atlantic Canada by the Pilar Shephard Art Gallery, Donald's work has been featured in annual solo exhibitions in the gallery since 1999.
