Art by Jerry Waese
Toronto based artist Jerry Waese has produced a large body of work that is mostly of figurative paintings using acrylic on canvas.
Waese creates painted images which, from a distance, intrigue like fresh graffiti. Yet, while viewed up close they provide a sense of deep satisfaction to the viewer and present painterly merit to the connoisseur. Such works stand on their own as living things unto themselves while participating in their environment, neither simply as decoration nor as communication, but more as a link to something deeply human.
Waese highlights abstract color and movement. As he exploits open form, the works invite viewers to contemplate relationships between the placement and technique of his marks as well as the resonance of his themes.
