Art by John F. Marok
My paintings are hybrids of colored shapes and architecture or if you prefer they are the offspring of interbreeding paint on a surface with the illusion of space I am an archaeologist of my own being.
I dig for textured shapes and colours that are buried inside of me and reconstruct what I find into the form of a painting. The meaning of what I make is ambiguous - both vague and precise. Usually, when I have completed a painting it feels alternately mysterious and familiar to me, similar to meeting a stranger whom I felt I have met before.
