Born in St. Paul Alta, and moved Vancouver when she was three. Lynda Shalagan spent her first 20 years of her life between Vancouver and Kelowna B.C. It is there where she began her art education, where she studied weaving, fiber arts, pottery, drawing and painting. In 1980 she transferred to Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Lynda graduated from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design with a Bachelor in Fine Arts.

She focused her studies on art education, woodwork, and oil painting. After graduating she only painted on a part time basis. It was not until the mid 1990’s that she took it up seriously and focused her time exhibiting and selling her work. Lynda Shalagan has traveled great deal. Taking in and observing her surroundings and finding inspiration for her work. She now lives in Halifax and works as an Art Teacher at the Sacred Hearts School. She has exhibited her work across Canada in both group and solo shows. Her paintings hang in several private and public collections through out Canada.

In 2003 she began reassessing her work and experimenting with new techniques. The process continues to unfold using both landscape and still life imager with an emphasis on formal considerations with a more intuitive response to the natural world and her environment.
