Art by Julia Sarradet
To have a father who was an artist was a truly wonderful experience for Canadian artist Julia Sarradet. She has always know she wanted to be an artist. She spent many happy hours sketching and drawing under her dad's watchful eye throughout her childhood. Her father encouraged her and critiqued her work.
Julia Sarradet was insturcted byu Leon Manuel who had painted extensively with the Group of Seven. Later, she was instructed by Evan Boston, who was at the time the Artistic Director of what is now the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre. In the 90's she attended workshops by well known maritime artist Sandi Komst.
I am greatly moved by large sweeping panoramas of earth, water and sky as to me this is the essence of our spirituality. The perfect gifts of the Creator and my own internal vision of my own spirituality are the basis of my work. There is an eternal solitary exploration of these visual subjects with brush palette and canvas.
