Art by Michael Khoury
Michael's interest in art began at a very young age before his early education in Fredericton, and his interest and competence in art and drawing was noticed by his teachers throughout the early years. After graduating he started a women's fashion retail business, and stayed with it for the next twenty-one years. He was always fond of the world of fashion, fabric, texture and color.
Michael spends his full time expressing his art through painting and photography, and continues to travel and research art history. On his recent eight-month stay in Paris he set up a studio next to the Louvre and through daily visits to the museum, immersed himself in the study of the hundreds of paintings in the collection. His favourite genres include Romanticism, Orientalism and Impressionism. He learned to appreciate the diversity of iconic figures in the world of art from the early renaissance to the modern; painters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Carravaggio, Botticelli, Fragonard, Delacroix, Ingres, and The Pre-Raphaelites.
Michael's work is diverse, ranging from still life to landscape to interiors, but he is most fond of the female figure.
