Art by Ognian Zekoff
Ognian Zekoff’s creative world is loaded with content and emotion, without being pictorial or narrative. It is spiritual, yet it has not lost the elements of the creative reality that exist on the borderline between the illusions of awakening and the troubled uncertainty of dreaming. He builds his island of hope on the belief in the spiritual content of plastic space, in the emotional life of colour and shape, in the innocence of the nude body…
His art radiates a positive visual message. It is full of potential for a new order of notions, shapes and images, which it builds into a world of personal artistic interpretation. It suggests that our own longings and precognitions are worthy of attention and trust so that we can preserve what is ephemeral and transform the transient into something lasting.
Ognian Zekoff was born in 1964 in Bulgaria, and presently lives and works in Quebec, Canada. He participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe, Asia and North America, and has won several international awards. His artworks are part of many exquisite collections, including National Museums of Contemporary Art in Sofia, Bulgaria and Beijing, China, and Foundation Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France, just to name a few.
