Art by Dominic Lefrançois
Klimt's motifs, Klee's naivety, Vaillancourt's raw energy, Basquiat's denouncing graffiti expressed without compromise force my admiration and respect. These artists stimulate a sensibility that is necessary for me to perceive the world through my creation.
Dominic Lefrançois spontaneously explores space through a play of colours, geometric forms and matter where every element establishes a relationship of balance and rhythm with the surface. Leaving room to the unconscious, he tries to create – to reinvent – space letting through a more emotional and sensorial impression than a rational one. Themes such as globalization, environment and over consumption influence his artistic development thereby giving him a broader perception of the world which he lives in.
Since 2000 he has exhibited in various galleries and public places, notably in the Magdalen Islands, Montreal region, Halifax and the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris. He has also participated in painting and art performance events.
