Tony Myers came to printmaking after a 25 year career working in the not-for-profit sector. He holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Leisure Studies. Tony studied printmaking in Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. He is a member of Visual Arts Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Printmakers Association, and he teaches printmaking in public schools and community organizations. Tony has exhibited in Canada, the United States, Cayman Islands and Australia.

Tony's mature engagement with the medium produces narrative, representational works addressing mankind's relationship to nature, contemporary political issues, folklore and personal experience. His work draws on the traditions of Western relief printmaking from medieval woodcuts of the 15th century to Paul Gaugin, Edvard Munch and the German expressionists at the turn of the 20th century to the neo-expressionists of the 1980s and beyond. The tools and materials employed in this approach lend themselves well to the simplification of forms and expressive content.
