Rick Gallant was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec but has lived most of his life in Ottawa. He is a relative newcomer to the art scene. With no formal training and ambitious intentions, his formative years as an artist favoured pencil, pen and ink drawings. He was apprehensive about colour until six years ago when he made the leap into acrylic painting.
Today, Rick paints for the love of it and also with great hopes of continuing to sell his work and hosting his own solo exhibit. His style of painting is realism and his subject matter is beautiful landscapes and wildlife painted from photographs that inspire him and the strokes that flow from his brush. Rick thanks his high school teacher who always told him that if you can draw then you can paint.
